More Havingness

Almost everyone I know has been experiencing great change during this early part of 2012: a big shift in career, relocation, a major relationship ending and/or a new one beginning, death, health challenges, or all of the above! No doubt, big changes are happening. And, for many those changes are taking the form of major breakthroughs in life-long challenges, or visions and ventures that have been seen and worked on for years, and finally fruition is happening. What an exciting time of opportunity and growth!

One of the themes I’ve noticed throughout all this growth and change we’re witnessing in and around us is Havingness. We are, without a doubt, stepping into a new world, a new community of humanity, a new consciousness. And the underlying pattern of this newness is our greater havingness, both personally and collectively. Havingness is like receptivity, our ability and willingness to accept, to have, what is. Havingness places no limits upon ourselves. It recognizes and validates miracles, and it gives space for the entire spectrum of human experience.

While collectively we still have a long way to go in expanding our havingness, we are taking great steps. We are having more awareness and permission to speak up about what we see and know. Revolutions, protests, petitions and demonstrations worldwide attest to this. We are having more willingness to question old ways of doing and being while creating new systems and modes of relating economically, politically and socially. Grassroots community organizations promoting sustainability, alternative currency, sharing, fairness in housing, organic agriculture, new education models and creative expression all attest to this greater havingness for our new world.

We know we’re the ones we’ve been waiting for, and we are being the change we’d like to see, and are seeing, in the world.

Our next step is to continue to have more. We will have more change when we can accept that ugliness, greediness and fear has appeared to control the world for too long, and continues to seem dominant and unyielding. When we can give the fear, greed and ugliness within us space to Be, rather than fight it, hide it, fear it, deny or ignore it, we can be free from it. Without our resistance to fear, fear has no power. It is a wind that dies and and disappears without us blowing back at it. When we can fully have fear, fear won’t have us in it’s grip.

The grip of fear is loosening everywhere, within us and all around us. It’s a joy for me to witness. Yet as fear comes out of the woodwork, we can sometimes lose ourselves in the confusion of its whirlwind release. We can forget who we are, become afraid of the fear, and experience the agonizing resistance to fear. But what if we could just have the fear? What would that look or feel like?

Havingness for fear means we are the neutral (meaning non-judging and non-resisting), aware, compassionate and amused observer of the energy we call fear, and all of the emotions, sensations and effects of it in the body-mind. This takes practice, and willingness to fail and try again, over and over. Havingness is a huge step towards mastery. Becoming more and more aware, neutral, compassionate and amused of what we experience in our body-mind is the path to mastery. It may not always be easy, but it can be fun if we choose!

So what does havingness for fear have to do with having more fun? How can we possibly have fun with fear? We can start, in the moment, and choose every moment, not to be afraid of or judge fear. This gives us space and awareness. We are not so stuck in the tunnel of fear and judgement that we can’t see what it is, how we got in it and how to get out. Then we can accept ourselves within the experience of fear: “I can have that I am in fear, and love myself in this space.” Then we can get curious and neutral to the fear. “Wow, that’s an amazing amount of fear! Look at how thick, dark, ugly, terrifying, convincing and annoying that fear is!” We can even become a little amused :) “Holy shit! That fear really threw me for a loop! It really has me shakin’ and tremblin’! I’m peeing my pants!” If we can accept ourselves running in fear circles, or becoming a monster every once in a while because of fear, then we can start to have a little fun with it. We can stop, breathe, have some space from it, not take it so seriously, take our power back, and enjoy the ride back to peace, clarity, joy, love and wholeness.

More havingness for the darker side of life is also more havingness for the bright side of life. We can’t have peace, joy, prosperity and love if we are resisting fear, greed, anger, sadness and hatred. When we resist something we make it real in our experience. When we can have something, we recognize and experience the Truth.

Dying

There seems to be a lot of dying happening lately. A friend of mine died in December, another friend’s mom died last week. Several people I know appear to be on the verge of death. It sounds depressing, but I’m not mourning, I’m celebrating.

What’s really happening is a whole lot more Life in our lives. A friend I spoke with today shared about her visions and creative projects, how they were unfolding and manifesting and how, along the way, she’s experienced a lot of fear shedding. We laughed about how we die every day by shedding our old fearful limited self for the bigger, brighter, unlimited Self. Each day we choose Life–that which is Unlimited, All-Giving and Eternal–we let what appears to limit the un-limitable die order to experience more of who we really are. It was never really alive to begin with, but we fed it with our minds and made it seem so. Aren’t we funny? As we let the old energy die out, we make space for what is birthing from within us: our creativity, our Joy, our dreams and visions, our purpose, our Awareness. Our Life.

I’ve experienced this increase in dying within myself lately as well. While people I know may be dying here and there, I know that who they are never dies, and that each day we must be prepared to die in order to truly live. My teacher and friend, Michael Tamura, who also died recently and lived to tell about it, taught that if we could live each day knowing that “It’s a good day to die,” we could truly have life. We can’t have life without death. We can’t have anything if we are resisting its opposite, for we become what we resist. It reminds me of an Osho quote I saw recently: “The real question isn’t whether life exists after death. The real question is whether you are alive before death.” If we are constantly resisting or trying to avoid death, we can never truly live.

How often in a day do we resist death? I don’t just mean death of the body or thoughts of our physical passing. More than that, how often do we resist letting go of any thoughts, emotions, fears, pain, “good” experiences or “bad” experiences. How much of our energy do we invest in trying to keep things the same? How much of our life force goes into resisting change? While we may be wanting or trying to change some things about our life or circumstances, we are usually also trying to avoid other inevitable changes. What if we let go of all that effort to make this change and make that stay the same, and instead celebrated the Life that Is, eternally, amidst the passing of life and death, birth and dying?

Jesus said, “Be passersby”. Like the Buddhist teaching of non-attachment, Jesus taught us to move through life with neutrality. To move through this world knowing that “this too shall pass” is to have certainty in Divinity, in That which Is without beginning or end: Life. When we live as passersby, we know that Life exists eternally no matter what appears to be happening in this world, to our bodies or our thoughts. When we live as passersby we are not attached to things being a certain way in order for us to feel safe, be happy or have peace and freedom. As passersby, we let all thoughts of fear, guilt, limitation, anger, judgement, blame or shame die the moment they appear to be born. We continue on our steady, certain path of Truth in celebration of Life.

As we celebrate Life more and more, all that has limited our experience of its Joy, Peace and Freedom falls away. This can be experienced as dying in many ways. We may physically feel like we’re dying, experience pain emotionally, or notice more fear in our minds. This is all cause for celebration. The old is dying to make wake for the new, both personally and globally. Humanity’s old models and systems are dying. Hurray! We are opening the space for more Life to be expressed and experienced in our world. Say Yes! to dying and make way for peace, joy and plenty!

Life has no limits. As more and more limits meet their death, stand by and watch the death march while Life parades in a new era for humanity. Rise up singing and dancing in celebration of Life!

Resistance

I finally called out the white elephant of resistance sitting in my space today, thanks to the help of some great psychic friends. Isn’t it funny how we can be the effect of something for so long, even when we are aware that we are giving our power away?!

I’ve been aware of this on-going resistance for months, even years, off and on. Specifically, I’ve been resisting doing anything creative, or acting upon my creative urges, ideas and inspirations. While I have consciously wanted to put ideas into form and translate my being into doing, I also experience an underlying energy of not wanting to do it. If I were to give this resistance a voice, it would literally say “I don’t want to do it!” Just like a kid resisting what a parent tells them to do.

Today I looked right at this resistance, whereas previously I was mostly resisting the resistance. :) Isn’t it funny how we do this?! It’s so easy to become the energy we’re experiencing, especially when that energy is resistance! So the white elephant (of resistance) came out of the closet, finally, because I said Hello.

I also found the right question to ask. Often we do not see or recognize an answer to a problem because we are not asking the right question. With the help of friends experiencing similar resistance levels, we were able to find the question(s) that unlocked the door(s) of resistance. We asked ourselves these questions, beginning with one and moving on to the next as we discovered answers: “What energy is preventing me from translating my Being into doing?, What am I resisting? Where did I first experience the energy I’m resisting? What can I offer this resistance, and the energy it is resisting in order to transform or release the energy?”

What I found within me was both amazingly simple, seemingly obvious, yet ingeniously hidden. Isn’t it funny how we (our ego) hide from ourselves?! When I looked right at the resistance without resisting it, I discovered what I was resisting. I found that I had been mostly unconsciously resisting academic energy and rules. Ha! Of course. It makes so much sense once we give ourselves space to be neutral and say hello to the energy we’re experiencing. I say my experiences as a young child and adolescent in school, having to conform to the rules and regulations of society and school. These rules, and my resistance to them, were sitting right in my will/energy distribution/action space.

When I looked further, I noticed that the protocol/rules/academic energy was perceived by me as a young person/student as invalidation, because there was no space, or permission, for me to explore and express my creativity freely. Because most of my Being, my creativity and essential nature, were either completely unrecognized or blatantly invalidated as a child, I associated rules and academic structures of “getting things done” with pain/invalidation. There it was, the purple cow riding the white elephant!: along with the resistance, I discovered loads of invalidation.

The process of healing or transforming this invalidation and resistance can be summed up in one word: forgiveness. And, as always, it really came down to forgiving myself. I saw a quote today by Carl Rogers that touches upon this. “The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” Until I am able to accept–or forgive–myself no matter what, I cannot change something I see within myself.

Today I practiced accepting and forgiving the resistance I have/had toward society’s rules about how to do things, and the structure and discipline I experienced in my school years. I also accepted/forgave the invalidation I experienced in relationship to that energy of rules and academia. This practice was and is a huge step toward shifting the pattern of resistance I’ve had toward doing. And, while I may find other energies as I continue to ask the questions I asked today, I know that my willingness to see and release those energies has increased dramatically because I have stepped out of a great deal of resistance. For that, I am celebrating!

no time not to love

Lately I’ve been experiencing a sense of greater and greater timelessness. It’s not every moment, just when I slow down enough inside to notice the truth. On the surface it seems that days and weeks, months and years are going by faster and faster. And during each day, I’m often bewildered by the speed of things and the un-graspable sense of urgency simmering below the surface of our busy lives.

It seems so many of us are living like hampsters, anxiously chasing our tails around in a glass box or on a squeaky treadmill. We’re racing around to get to the next appointment, the next goal, the next feel-good moment. I’m often caught up in this sticky game of chase-the-ghost-of-time. But more and more, I’m reminded to slow down, slow everything down inside, and become aware of timelessness.

From this expanded, serene space I can re-enter the seeming race, the chaotic symphony of a world on fire. From this space I can know, and I can be grounded. And from this space I can choose to love, all the time, no matter what thoughts and experiences pile up in my view.

Today is Valentine’s Day, the day we remember and celebrate love in its many forms. But the form of love that we are here to remember, and to choose in every moment, is the Love that is timeless, the Love that is Truth, the Love that is infinite, the Love that Is. On this day, I am reminded to celebrate the many ways I can express and embody Love.

The more we choose Love and share it, the more we recognize our timeless/infinite nature. Being in touch with our timeless/infinite Self shows us the reality of our freedom. When we own and celebrate this freedom, choosing love in every moment becomes easy and natural. When we operate from our freedom, we see that there is no time not to love, because love is our freedom. Choosing love all the time allows us to move at our own pace, to be at cause rather than the effect of the world spinning fast and furious.

This is my (long and happy) mantra today: breathe. slow down inside. notice your infinite Self shining and smiling in you always. celebrate this Love and freedom~ choose it, have it, own it, Be it, express it, and share it.

Happy Valentines Day!

Love Always,

Jean

When the tooth fairy came…

Seren had been withdrawn, quiet and cuddly for almost two weeks. I carried him with me throughout the day, allowing his sensitivity to be calmed and nurtured by my closeness. All the while, we thought he was growing a few new molars. Through high fevers, sleepless nights and difficult days, he seemed to recover a bit of his spark and playfulness.

I saw it just a few minutes after leaving the house for our trip to Mt Shasta. He looked up at me, talking and laughing, and I couldn’t believe what I saw: his front tooth, bent backward and mangled! Ouch! I felt nauseous. I must not be seeing this right, I thought. His tooth was fine all morning, and he’s been happy and playful. I looked again. Something’s wrong with Seren, I said. Stop the car. We all examined his mouth while he protested our probing. He wasn’t disturbed by the tooth, it seemed, only by our concern. Yet, it was clear: the tooth was broken in a bad way.

The mind races in this kind of situation. What happened? How did his tooth brake? Who was with him when this happened? Why didn’t we notice this sooner? What are we going to do? Is he going to be OK? What do we do? This is aweful….

My stomach was talking a lot too. The tooth’s appearance not only challenged my physical comfort, it challenged my sense of confident motherhood. How could I let this happen?

We drove immediately to the dentist. Seren remained relatively calm, aware and curious about our state of massive disturbance. We talked about possible outcomes, wavering between hope and fear, tears and deep breaths. Unable to do much, the dentist sent us to an oral surgeon, where 6 nurses had to hold him down while we cried through the loudest, longest, most difficult 5 minutes of screaming I’ve ever experienced in this life. Again, the mind races, the pictures fly: my baby is being tortured, how could this happen, what have we done, he’s going to be traumatized, what if he doesn’t recover?

With a local anesthesia, they pulled the badly broken tooth. And I held the clear bright space in my heart that knows all is well, nothing can truly harm him, and he is a free, capable, aware being that is actually laughing a bit at this ordeal. It’s your time to own your awareness and power, I heard him say to me in spirit. While his baby body was confused and clearly upset, his soul was serene, certain and smiling. And so was I, on the inside. But, outwardly, I was distraught, and the tears fell as I carried my baby, mouth drooling blood and crying desperately, out of the office of seeming terror. Gratefully, Seren wasn’t the only soul reminding me of the important spiritual lesson unfolding, and the power and presence I was being called to own.

Rarely do we receive notice before a situation where all of our inner and outer resources are called into action. This is especially true for parents. Motherhood asks us to remain calm, certain, grounded and ready to respond at all moments. Our children are our teachers, and their pop-quizzes are timed just right for our souls awakening. “Are you paying attention?,” they ask. I need your presence. Right here, right now, every moment. Don’t fall asleep, don’t drift off. Be awake, alert.

The tooth fairy came early, unexpected. And, like a truth fairy, it asked, “Can you have this?”

“Are you ready to have the power of your presence at any and all moments?”

“Can you have your peace and certainty in any circumstance?”

Boldly, I answered yes. Although, I’m hoping the next test will be gentler on my baby’s body.

By the way, Seren is well. He’s now my little snaggle-tooth man.

Focus and Freedom

I’m always telling my older son to focus. I watch him while he’s doing his homework and I observe my own frustration in response to the way he works. “He’s all over the place,” I tell my husband. If he’s writing a paper, he’ll write a few words, look up and play with something on the desk, reach over to the computer and surf You-Tube for a while, go back to the paper he’s writing for a few more words, reach for the phone and call someone, fold some origami, back to the paper he’s writing for a few seconds, then on to his iPod, then he’s up walking around… Exasperated, I tell him, again, “You’ve got to focus! How will you finish your work and make any sense of it if you’re ‘all over the place?!”

Aaah but he’s not the only one. Like mother, like son. I, too, can do things in a rather circular, multi-task, ‘all over the place’ manner. There’s nothing wrong with it, unless you really want to accomplish something :) And I wonder, is this the creative process unfolding, or a major avoidance tactic? Am I resisting the task at hand, or giving my thoughts and creative ideas space to ruminate, organize and manifest in their own time and their own way.

I guess the barometer is in the results: is anything getting done? Sure, we may not need to produce results quickly all of the time, so this round-about creative technique may be suitable and appropriate sometimes, but what about efficiency and production. Where do these come in to the creative process? And how can we balance productivity with our creative wandering?

Ok, maybe I’m deluding myself. Creative wandering is a cute term but, really, it could accurately be called avoidance. And, given that I became most aware of this pattern while observing my son’s exasperatingly long homework deliberation, he could call it “I’d rather be playing video games,” and I could call it “I’d rather be done with this!”

Remember those bumper stickers, “I’d rather be…(fill in the blank)”?

How often do we, as souls, have that attitude toward our human incarnation? What is it we’d rather be doing? Do we notice how often during the day we think, consciously or unconsciously, “I’d rather be…”? How often does our mind wander away from the present, and what it is we are currently engaged in, and think “If only I could be doing something else, then I’d be happy or at peace.” And, do we even notice if we have the “I’d rather be” attitude towards our entire incarnation?

As souls, we plan our lifetime before we incarnate. We meet with a council of advisers, guides and spiritual friends who help us decide what experiences and relationships will help us learn, grow and serve the best way possible. We set this up from a place of neutrality, outside the time and space of incarnation, and, often, by the time we’re in the midst of our incarnation, experiencing the relationships and tasks we planned as a soul, we forget our high ideals of growth, learning and service, and would rather just hightail it outta here! It’s easy to think about doing something, but to actually do it can be a whole other matter, especially when confronted with the slower manifestation process in physical form, not to mention the karma we must confront and complete! As souls, we may think “It’s taking too long, This person will never change, No one’s listening, This place is Crazy!” And yet, we have a purpose to fulfill. Our incarnation is not random, and if we can focus and stay on task, there is much growth and fulfillment to be had.

Take a look at your greater purpose. What did you come here to fulfill or accomplish? What lessons are you learning, or avoiding? How much growth are you willing to have? Can you allow yourself to have more?

Because you are here, at this time, you chose as a soul to incarnate during the most growth inducing time in the history of mankind. There is more potential and support and inspiration and movement for spiritual growth, awakening and service than ever before. You chose to be here, to be part of the amazing transformation that the world is going through, so that you, as a soul, could also have that transformation. Are you staying focused? Is part of you saying “I’d rather be…” or are you fully here, committed to your purpose and the task of your soul’s incarnation?

Distractions can take many forms. It’s up to you to discern if any seeming wandering has a creative purpose, part of a gestational cycle, or if you’re spinning your wheels. If you are in competition with yourself or others, you are likely to distract yourself because your purpose cannot be fulfilled in competition. Be gentle on yourself, but don’t delude yourself. We are all here for a purpose. Outwardly, that purpose manifests differently and may appear big or small by the world’s standards. Yet, inwardly, each soul’s purpose is equally great, equally important, and absolutely necessary for the soul’s evolution.

Your freedom lies in being here fully, and giving everyone space to be here as well, right where you are, right where they are. There is nothing to escape, and nothing to out-do, beat or win. Ascension happens not by “rising above” the world, but by fully coming into the world, fully inhabiting your body-mind, with no resistance or attachment, fully owning your incarnation and your power and creativity as a soul who’s “been around the block” enough times to know more than the world may want you to. If there was nothing else you’d rather be doing, no where else to go but right here, how much freedom and focus would you have?

If you allowed yourself to be fully here in the chaos of the dream, your power and creativity would be unlimited, because you are unlimited. When you fully arrive here, you will see the limitlessness of you and your purpose will be fulfilled. And you will truly know your freedom.

Enthusiasm for the New Year

We have arrived! It’s 2010, and the sense of limitless possibilities, unimaginable miracles, and all-things-possible is incredibly palpable. The air is full of excitement. My heart races with exuberant anticipation and grateful presence. Wow! What an amazing year this is: the year of having, the year of increasingly expanding havingness and receptivity.

Last night, as I ate dinner with my husband, I became aware of the immense excitement and anticipation in my heart, and in the hearts of many. Although I had a quiet New Years Eve, staying home with my baby, who’s experiencing his first cold, inwardly I was full of explosive celebration energy. It was indescribable, like nothing I’ve ever experienced before. And I enjoyed it moment by moment. While I was also aware that enthusiasm and joyful anticipation are not everyone’s experience as the new year begins, I celebrated that, despite the worry, resistance and dread that many feel, there is a clear and powerful sense of extreme positivity and happy knowing about the miracles to come this year. This year brings the gift of mastery, creativity and collaboration. It’s going to be beautiful. It already is.

The question I’m hearing is: What are we having? What are we receiving? For many, the beginning of a new year comes with thoughts and questions of what the year will bring, what we’d like to create, what goals, dreams or resolutions we have, what agenda for our lives would we like to revisit or recreate. This is the time when we reflect on the past year and envision the next. But what is at the root of our reflection and vision? From where are we seeing ourselves in the past and future? Are we viewing our past through an image of resentment, lack or guilt? Are we in effort to change what we can’t accept, resisting what is so that our future is somehow better, less painful?

What if we decided to see ourselves, across all time, as innocent, whole, unlimited, and perfect just the way we are? What if we viewed the past through a lens of forgiveness, saw only the present, and anticipated the future with outrageous joy and enthusiasm? What if we accepted ourselves fully, gave ourselves space to Be, and simply Loved? Yippee!! That feels fantastic!

Enthusiasm, Joy, and the Grace of Knowing that is beyond the sense of hope all come with the simple choice to forgive ourselves, Love completely, and accept fully. When there is no aspect of ourselves, or the world, that we cannot completely give space to be and witness with full awareness, love and compassion, there is no doubt, worry or dread of what is to come. When we can give ourselves and eachother space to be Who we are and where we are on our journey to Being Who we are in the world, there is no sense of lack, needing to change, resistance to what is, or fear of not having. We simply know and have All. Enthusiasm is a sign that we know God, that we are choosing to give God space to Be in our lives, and that we are willing to Be the full expression of the power, creativity and limitlessness of our Divinity.

When we have enthusiasm, we are completely open, receptive, ready and willing to have the miracles given us in each moment. And, our enthusiasm is a contagious virus of happiness spreading to everyone we come into contact with, like slipping laughter pills into everyone’s drinks, or sneaking a reprogramming disk into everyone’s mind that says “All is Well, let’s celebrate eternity and peace!” When we have enthusiasm, people may not know why, they may not be able to understand or relate to our extreme state of joy and peace, but they will receive a healing, like a balm of surrender, whenever they open up just enough to wonder how we could be so happy.

My enthusiasm for this New Year comes with an awareness that no matter what it brings, a happy outcome is certain. No matter what chaos or insanity continues to lurk in the world, I can choose to forgive and have the peace, Grace and certainty of God. As time continues to appear to exist and move faster and faster, I’m enthusiastic about this fantastic opportunity to master the art of forgiveness, the art of living in the world but not of it. As ancient structures and systems of society continue to crumble, I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to come into genuine connection and community with others, to co-create and collaborate, to have the immense power of our creativity manifest as a new world, where sharing, peace, prosperity, abundance, play, caring, giving, compassion, nurturing, cooperation and collective awakening are present in every level of our societies: families, communities and nations. I am enthusiastic about taking our next step in embodying/manifesting a world that reflects the essence of Truth: Joy, Peace and Love.

May 2010 bring you beautiful miraculous surprises, experiences of You beyond what you’ve imagined possible, and the deepest peace and knowing of God than ever before.

Choices

I love to play fun, happy music and dance with my baby. One of our favorite children’s albums to listen to during this joyful ritual has a song that is essentially a blessing of peace to all. The loving energy of the song inspires many blissful moments for us, as the singer, Snatam Kaur, sings from a heart full of God. She sings of how “the sun shines on everyone: it doesn’t make choices.” And how “when we pray, we pray for everyone: we don’t make choices.” These lines always trail in my mind, leading to other thoughts about the importance of making choices in life.

In the song, the line “we don’t make choices” refers to giving and sharing with all, and not excluding or selecting out anyone from your sharing of divine love. When I hear that one line repeat alone in my head, though, it sounds confusing…We don’t make choices? Of course we do! is my next thought… our lives here on earth are all about choices. It’s a funny line really. The words in lyrics are often chosen by how they fit rythmically, and how they flow poetically. They are metaphorical, not necessarily literal. I understand what is meant in this song: that love is to be given to everyone, without exception. Her choice of words, however, can be misleading when the part of the chorus “don’t make choices” repeats in your mind after the song is over.

We all make choices, every day, every moment, but what are we really choosing? What are our choices about? Why do we sometimes think “I don’t have a choice,” or have difficulty choosing for fear of making the “wrong” decision? There’s really a lot of energy on this thing we call choice!

When making any decision, or reflecting on choices made, it’s important to recognize the different levels of choosing. In form, in the world of physicality, we seem to have a myriad of choices, a multitude of “things” to choose from. In western culture, especially, we are bombarded by millions of options for our food, entertainment, electronic tools and toys. There is so much to choose from! And then, of course, there are all the decisions about direction and goals in our life–how and with whom we spend our time. Our choices in this realm can often be complex, having many factors to consider, possible outcomes to ponder and repercussions to ruminate. Our choices on this level can fill our mind with many “what if’s” and uncertainty if we are not also aware of the most basic and true source of our choosing.

In Spirit, there is no choice, there simply IS. This is the level which Snatam Kaur’s children’s song was referring to. Our only choice in regards to Spirit is to accept, or have, that which is, that which we already are, or not. We can attempt to choose not to have Spirit, thereby making up multitudes of illusions of fear. Our choice against Spirit does not, and cannot, change, affect or eliminate It, but it does effect our experience here in the world and the complex choices we make here. If we make the choice that cannot be, the choice against Spirit, we are choosing for and with fear. If we choose to accept and have Spirit, that which we are, we are choosing for and with Love. This is a simple choice, one or the other, but the joke is that the “other”(fear) does not actually exist, and since you can’t choose what isn’t, there really isn’t a choice! There’s just Spirit, All, Love, Wholeness, Oneness. :)

Ah, but back to the world of multiplicity, duality and complexity that we appear to be in…where there are so many choices and so much to discern. How can we know what is the right decision on this level of form? Should I take this job or do that instead? Should I continue dating this person or see someone else? Will I attend this event or make these other plans? There are many important decisions in life, and yet, the most important aspect of any decision is to recognize first where you are choosing from. The first decision is to choose from Love, from That Which Is, or from fear, from that which isn’t. When we choose from Love, our decision will bring or extend peace, joy, well-being, harmony, freedom, healing, validation, and of course Love! When we choose from Love, all the details–the “fine print” of our decision in the world–become clear and simple. When we choose from Love, we have certainty and peace of mind, we have clarity and ease. If there is doubt, guilt, shame or anxiety, it is a sure sign that we have chosen from fear.

Fortunately, we can always choose again! Each time we notice worry, uneasiness, uncertainty, guilt, anything like this, we can go back and choose Love: choose to have That Which Is, that which We Are. From there we may remake or keep our decision about something in the world. But, once we have chosen to have that decision in and from Love, we can be certain our decision in form will bring more peace to our mind, regardless of what it is. Yay! That’s fantastic! :)

Ultimately, all choice boils down to love or fear, Truth or illusions. The way to recognize what we’ve chosen is to notice if we are at peace within ourselves or not. If we are not, we can choose again and restore peace to our awareness by choosing Love. In this way we can also make all of our choices here in the world, from the daily details to the major life decisions, with greater ease and certainty. When we first choose Love, the rest follows gracefully.

“Seek first the Kingdom of Heaven and all else will be added unto you.” The Kingdom is Love, Truth, Reality, Oneness, That Which Is. Choose to have this, and your road here will be clear. May we all remember the choice for Love in all of our choices.

Newness and Change

Isn’t it exciting when so much change is happening, and you feel the flutter of creativity, positivity, hope and renewal in the air?! I’ve really been enjoying the energy of the collective on the planet lately. Barack Obama’s recent inauguration was certainly a large part of the enthusiastic celebration energy in the world, but I see it as symbolic of a much greater change taking place as well.

A feeling of renewal or newness is stirring our collective dream into greater awakeness. For many, this looks or feels like a longing or willingness to start afresh in their lives, change old habits, renew commitments to Self, or transform their entire outlook on life. For others there is an inner calling to break from the past and really show up in their lives. However you experience the energy of newness, know that it is here to bless you with inner strength, hope, trust and certainty in your abilities to create, transform and become who you truly are.

What I’ve noticed amidst this sense of renewal is an often challenging beginning stage, where many people get stuck in discouragement, confusion and fear. After an initial boost of enthusiasm, commitment and clarity, many hit a wall of energy and lose sight of that great joy and enthusiasm for change and newness. This “wall of energy,” although it is not real, seems very real, threatening and even debilitating. It is a collection of thoughts that say “You can’t do that,” and “But look what happened in the past,” and “What do you think you’re doing anyway?” Doubt, fear and a sense of lack and helplessness can crowd the mind and hinder us from knowing the power of our will to choose Spirit and be free from this fear. When we choose Spirit–choose Good–we remove our power from that “wall of fear” and give it to the unlimited, all-Loving, free and fearless Self that is always in communion with God. With that Self, the fear disappears.

With the tide of newness in the air, people’s perceptions of what is possible are beginning to change as well. Perhaps there is even a greater sense that anything is possible. Indeed, it is. And with this sense in limitless possibility comes a greater understanding of ourSelves, for, in Truth, we are limitless. When we know that we are limitless, infinite, immortal Spirit, we are less likely to believe in, or become the effect of, thoughts of fear, resistance, limitation or lack. When we know that we are always free, no matter what the outer circumstances appear to be, we are empowered to follow our inner guidance, make dramatic changes in our personal lives if need be, be creative and express ourselves, and respond to our inner callings with greater certainty. We are also free to love, without fear, limitation or condition.

The change and newness happening in our world and in our lives is a sign of our choice to have and be the limitless, fearless, free and joyful Being of Spirit. I embrace and celebrate this newness with gratitude and enthusiasm. And I encourage you to look at what changes you have been making, are currently making, or would like to make. Validate your choices for positive change, and celebrate the energy of newness that connects you with your creativity and enthusiasm.

Fortunately, there is a lot of help and support for us to choose Spirit, always, and it is especially tangible right now. The energy of newness is the energy of the Holy Spirit: alive, inspiring, creative, loving, innocent and enthusiastic. It is the energy of “Anything is possible!” and “Yes!” May you know and experience the continuous blessings of the Holy Spirit now and always!

I’m Back…Whew!, Choosing Wholeness again

Aah, it’s good to be back! Where’d I go? Oh, let’s just say away from computer-land for a while. I thought about all the lovely posts I could create over the holydays and into the New Year, full of the Joy of Christ and the miracles of that sparkly time of year. But, instead I chose to take a long break from computer-land, as I love to call it. Yes, a whole new and seemingly endless world opens up when we surf the web. So many possibilities! We can make universes of social circles and inter-connecting networks of communication. This is great fun, and truly a gift for expanding our horizons in this world! And yet, it’s easy to dive in and forget to “come up for air”, to join with the stillness, quietness and Truth of our Being. Balance is key. This winter has gifted me with opportunities for more balance. Time for “work” and time for play. Time to go inward, and time to bring the Light from within “out” to the world. Time to rest and time to go, go, go! Time to speak and time to listen. The balance I’d like to create is the right in-between space of Now. Now is where I nurture Self while I nurture “others”, give as I receive, listen as I am being heard, see as I am being seen. Because in the Now, there is no space and time, there is no separation between us. In Now, I give to the all, and so I receive. In Now, I listen to the All, and so I am heard. In Now, the vision of the All is given, and so I see and am seen. And so, Now, I choose balance. I choose again to have the Wholeness I am, from which true balance is recognized, given and received.I am so happy, so grateful, for the many reminders to choose again to have What I Am. It’s so simple. When I notice imbalance in my life, I choose again my wholeness, which is absolute balance, completion, fullness. And so, when I seem to have no time for rest, or not enough time for work, or feel too tired to play with my son, or seem to be traveling too much to stay connected with friends at home… Whatever it is that appears to be out of balance is really a Reminder, an opportunity to forgive and choose again. Choose Wholeness, choose Now. Choose divinity. Choose Spirit. Choose That Which Gives, That which is unlimited, That which IS.Yay!!!May you always recognize the gifts in any experience of “imbalance”. May you always know it as a reminder, a gift that appears, reminding you to choose Wholeness again, and then disappears.Isn’t that great!!Try it! ; )Namaste
